One of the best TIPs to encourage standing independently is the SQUAT!!

You can use a wall for support or without (more challenging) and get your babes to pick up toys off the ground and stand back up 💪

It will build strength in their lower body and help with stability. As soon as they know how to lower safely- standing independently will be no big deal!

It will run like a regular LM class but the cost is purely based on donation 💜💜

100% of the proceeds will go to Alzheimers Society of Canada, so please head over to the website to sign up under the "pop up" section! 🙂

It will take place on Wednesday, October 22nd from 1:45-2:15pm in Bradford at CHATS (same plaza as our current dance studio!)

Try this quick transition TIP to help them push up from the ground!

Roll them to the side, gently push their hip down and get them to use their hands to guide themselves into the sitting position.

Sometimes a little bit of help is all it takes to make the lightbulb go off!

TIP TUESDAY!

Work on getting your little one to grab their feet while laying down!

It's an important motor milestone that has several benefits such as improving their fine motor skills by grasping, strengthening their core, and encouraging them to reach for midline (center of their body!)

Using a towel underneath their bum can elevate their feet, making it a wee bit easier to reach! It's a great tool if you are just starting this exercise or if they are having a hard time!

Incorporating stretching into play time or with diaper changes keeps baby’s muscles and joints flexible, improves body awareness and it’s a great bonding activity!

Winter is officially here, which means we're gearing up for Little Shredderz!!! ❄️🏂

Starting Saturday, January 25th, we will be kicking off this amazing program to help kiddos learn how to balance on a board and fall in love with the snow!

The Details:

• 19 months to 4 years old
• 45 minutes in length
• first class indoors and the rest outside (weather permitting)
• parents MUST participate
• helmet and board rental included
• 9am/10am/11am/12pm timeslots available
• $260 plus tax

Use a FULL diaper box to get your little one to practice their steps!

It’s a similar exercise to using walkers, but the box will be heavier which means it’s harder for them to push and keeps their posture much more upright and stable.

If they need some assistance pushing the box, stand behind them and guide it forward but let their legs follow through!

Give it a try and let us know what you think!

Extra tip: if you’re using walkers at home, make sure they aren’t too lightweight. We want babies to take more stable steps and not have too much of a forward lean.
